The professional school counselors of AuSable Valley Central School believe that every student is capable of academic achievement. In order to guarantee optimal success for each student, the school counselor advocates and provides support on a continuing basis throughout the studentís academic career.
The school counseling office offers individual counseling to students who may be dealing with issues such as peer pressure, self-esteem, relationships, loss and separation, and transitions. The counselors are available for walk-ins or by appointment, to help students with personal or social issues. Group counseling may also be available.
Counselors meet with students who may have concerns with classroom-related problems, academic placement, and achievement. Every year they conduct an Annual Review with each student in which academic and career plans are discussed. Students are always encouraged to stop by with any questions or concerns throughout the school year.
College The school counseling office is equipped with information for higher education or career plans following high school. Opportunities are available for students to attend college fairs as well as meet with college recruiters. College planning seminars will be offered for parents and students at the high school level.
Career and Vocational School Opportunities:
School counselors can assist student with course selection and planning for a variety of career paths including vocational-technical school opportunities, military pursuits, or direct entrance into the workforce. Visit the CV-TEC website.
All students between the ages of 14-17 must obtain working papers before beginning employment. Papers may be obtained in the School Counseling Office.
