Important Update from Superintendent Paul D. Savage II

The AuSable Valley Central School District is committed to sharing important information with students, parents, faculty, staff and the community and we want to update you regarding the non-credible threat that was made from a fictitious social media account last month. The District has been working closely with the New York State Police for the past month and have been informed by the Lead Investigator today that they have arrested an individual believed to be responsible for creating the fictitious social media account that falsely implicated a student and that criminal charges are expected. The person arrested is a juvenile so the New York State Police have not released the individual’s name at this time. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken by the school district.

We are pleased that this incident, which had been fully deemed by New York State Police as a non-credible threat, has come to resolution. We take all reports seriously and have and will continue to follow our established protocols to fully investigate these matters. Should we ever have a concern about student safety our intention is to send families communication as appropriate and warranted. Safety is our number one priority and we take precautions each day to support the safety of every student.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank the New York State Police for their dedicated work on this case and would also like to thank the community for your support throughout this process.

Respectfully,
Paul D. Savage II
